Saturday Songs

Oops...well, this week has obviously been busy.  I didn't really realize I had gone a week without saying one thing!!!  Though I did get the...privilege (the mache was the best part to be honest...) of making a pinata for the kids at church to break up after our Adults "Valentine's" Banquet at church.  It was definitely a time filled with friends, fun, and good food, which I believe are some of the most important blessings in my life because of Christ.  Honestly, if I didn't have a relationship with God, I wouldn't have any of the people I call friends in my life today.  I would be on a path that didn't really lead anywhere exciting.  I'm so blessed to have a relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  I could sing from the rooftops what God has given me in my life.

Well, once again I'm doing a song that a friend of mine mentioned in one of his messages at a ministry outreach.  It's a song with a beautiful reminder and exaltation to the world about how wonderful our God is with a story behind it that makes me wonder if I'm living my life to the best of my abilities.  Here is a short and interesting summerization.  Without further ado...

What a Friend We Have in Jesus
By Joseph Scriven

  1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
    All our sins and griefs to bear!
    What a privilege to carry
    Everything to God in prayer!
    Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
    Oh, what needless pain we bear,
    All because we do not carry
    Everything to God in prayer!
  2. Have we trials and temptations?
    Is there trouble anywhere?
    We should never be discouraged—
    Take it to the Lord in prayer.
    Can we find a friend so faithful,
    Who will all our sorrows share?
    Jesus knows our every weakness;
    Take it to the Lord in prayer.
  3. Are we weak and heavy-laden,
    Cumbered with a load of care?
    Precious Savior, still our refuge—
    Take it to the Lord in prayer.
    Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
    Take it to the Lord in prayer!
    In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
    Thou wilt find a solace there.
  4. Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised
    Thou wilt all our burdens bear;
    May we ever, Lord, be bringing
    All to Thee in earnest prayer.
    Soon in glory bright, unclouded,
    There will be no need for prayer—
    Rapture, praise, and endless worship
    Will be our sweet portion there.

I pray this song brightens your day as much as it does mine.  :-)  Happy Saturday!!!
